Sick, Busy and Experimenting

Hi Everyone,
It's been a while since my last post and there are several reasons for that. I was constantly sick for over a month. The month began with a sinus infection and the doctor gave me antibiotics for that. Then, right when I finished the antibiotics, my husband and I both caught some bad virus that started out with a very horrible sore throat. It felt like strep, but we didn't have any fever, so I'm sure it was a viral infection. The only thing to do was rest--I slept so much during that time that now I'm ready to be on the go! This stretch of illness put a real damper on my writing here. But now I'm OK and getting back to normal.

Another reason, besides illness, I've not posted so much lately is that I have been experimenting with other ways to make money online. I have a couple of wonderful clients with whom I work on a seasonal basis, but would like to also have some regular clients. I've been working online, in a small way, for a couple of years now, and thought it was definitely time to start branching out a bit more than this blog and my Zazzle and Amazon stores. A friend of mine, Hospitalera, told me it's very possible to make money online with no cash layout. I'm giving this philosophy a try. I've begun writing on a couple of different platforms--EzineArticles (with only one article published there, so far, as a means of promoting my online writing), writing on HubPages, and have even started another blog called Sher's Hub List. This new blog is a support for my writing at HubPages--and provides links back to my hubs. Anyway, I'm viewing these experiments as the equivalent of printing up notices and putting them on light poles and message boards. The more places you are visible online is a good thing...I'm hoping! I have ideas for more blogs and further writing on HubPages, and some other sites where it's possible to sell your writing online. It's a process that takes time and experimenting. That's OK...and I'm doing it. We'll see how it all goes. All in all it's a learning experience, and that's a very good thing.

That's what I've been up to lately, and will definitely keep posting here. There is more of Anne's story that would be fun to share, and some other posts to write sharing life here in the Czech Republic. That's all for now...take care.

Have a great day!

God bless,
Sher :0)

I remember seeing a tweet about your being under the weather, but didn't realise it's been a LONG time! I'll assume that because you managed to produce this post that you're doing a lot better now. :D

All the best in the online money-making effort! I'm still undecided about the whole thing -- if nothing else I should work on getting out of the apartment more :p And my hubby is now on "night float" which means he has vampiric work hours of 5pm->6am, and this has totally turned my days upsidedown. Ugh.

btw I'll be heading back to Malaysia in a month's time, so it's time for another Postcard/Link Exchange - wanna join? :)

Hi *lynne*,
Yes, it was a long time of sickness. During that time, too, one of my gerbil boys, Pepa, died. He was having some health trouble for the past couple of months, and one day I found him dead in the cage. Lots of things have been going on, that's for sure. We also had to find a new friend for Ota, as he was so depressed after Pepa died. Now, we have Baby...and we're not sure if Baby is a girl or a boy. UGH...this is my husband's doing :0) Long story for another time. Now I'm worried that we might have inadvertently started a gerbil farm! Oh boy! We should know in about a month or less if Baby is a boy or a girl. Suffice it to say that Baby and Ota are getting along very well--which is a good thing :0)

Thanks for your well-wishes for my income earning efforts. I'm actually viewing this more as getting my name out there, plus building a few places where I can display my writing. I want to give it a try since working out of the home is impossible with my allergies and asthma. It will be interesting to see what happens!

I'll look at your Postcard/Link Exchange--that does sound like fun!

Have a great day,
Sher :0)

Hi Sher

It's great to see you back - I was wondering if you were OK. Sorry to hear that you've been sick - sinusitis and viruses are not very pleasant at all.

Glad to hear that you have renewed energy now! I wish you all the very best in your endeavours to make money on the Internet and I'd be interested to hear how you get on. I know that it's not easy...

Have a wonderful day,

Roz

It's not good, having a long spell ill, and it takes so long to catch up if you're a blogger!

You're right - getting your work out all over the net is a great way to generate some traction and traffic - I call places like Hub Pages and E Zine, my "outposts"

Hi Mike CJ,
Yes, peppering seems to be the best way to go about writing or the Internet. I have a lot to learn, but am enjoying this work and the different platforms to write on. I want to find more places like this write...and experiment to see what works the best! Probably having a combination of platforms will be the best!

Thanks for your comment and for stopping by!

Have a great day,
Sher :0)

Glad you're feeling better. I've been sick the last couple of weeks, myself. First it was strep, but I think there was a virus to go with it 'cause I didn't get totally well with the antibiotics. But, all better now and back at work!

Glad you are better, too, and back to writing. I'll be interested to hear how your monetization process is working. Sounds interesting! Take care! Stay well! Love ya!

Hi Laura,
Thanks for visiting my blog! I'm sorry to hear you've been sick, too...it sounds a lot like what we had here. But I'm happy you're feeling better now, and hope you have a wonderful Spring where you are!

Thanks, too, for the good luck with my experiments. I'm working on them...we'll see how they go! :0)

Have a great day,
